Emmitsburg Memorial VFW Post 6658 carries the names and memory of this community's veterans. It is a Memorial post — remembrance is built into its name, its walls, and its work.

The Walls Remember
Honours, By War
Inside, honours walls recognize Emmitsburg's service by war — World War I, World War II, Korea, Vietnam, Afghanistan, and Iraq — alongside Auxiliary emblems, flags, and framed certificates built up over generations.
A bronze plaque on the building honors the town's World War I and World War II service members by name.
12 W. Main St
A Landmark on the Square
The Post makes its home in a three-story red-brick Queen Anne building raised in 1881 as the Annan, Horner & Co. bank. Its green corner tower and spire watch over Main Street and Seton Avenue — the heart of Emmitsburg.

The Main Street face — glass-block windows and the green tower bay.
Auxiliary 6658
Half the Engine of This Post
VFW Auxiliary 6658 runs the Chili Cook-Off, helps lead the Crab Feed and the Heritage Day honor signs, awards scholarships alongside the Post, and raises the Veterans Fund money that quietly helps local veterans all year. Auxiliary dues can be dropped off right at the Post.
What the VFW Stands For
- No one does more for veterans — advocacy, assistance, and camaraderie for those who served overseas.
- Support for military families here at home.
- Community service, remembrance, scholarships, and civic programs across the Emmitsburg area.
The Veterans of Foreign Wars is the national organization of veterans who served honorably overseas in conflicts and expeditions on behalf of the United States. Post 6658 is where that mission lives in Emmitsburg — on the square in winter, and out at Kump's Dam Park all summer.
